 School COLOUR Fun Run!

Fantastic Fundraising

The effort and enthusiasm from students has been fantastic and we’ve had a great start to our big fundraiser for the year, as we were unable to hold a Gala Day.

Can your child come up with ideas to help them fundraise - chores, helping a neighbour in the garden, and I am sure there are many more ideas they can think of.

Please keep sharing your child's link

Go to schoolfunrun.co.nz, share your online fundraising link via SMS, Email and Social Media. If someone would like to sponsor your child and give them cash, they can do this.  Please take the money to the office, with your child's name and room number and we will be able to add the amount to their profile.

THANK YOU! For the support we have received from everyone.  It isn’t too late to make a profile for your child if you haven’t done one yet.

The School Colour Fun Run is all about FUN!

October 21 2022

Get behind the school and help us reach our goal.  This is replacing the Gala Day this year.  Your child will bring home a booklet and newsletter.

How Does My Child Fundraise?

Firstly, go to schoolfunrun.co.nz and create a student profile page. Everything to do with your fundraising revolves around this page. Share the page with family and friends (Facebook, Email or text) and let the fundraising begin.  The children can offer to do a chore, help in some way to exchange for sponsorship.  The children can have fun watching their page evolve, collect stickers, earn badges and see the leaderboard.

Students who raise just $10 will be able to choose a prize! The more they raise, the better their reward – you will find the full range in your sponsorship form.

WIN  JUICY’S FOR THE CLASS

The class who has the most profiles by Friday 16th will receive Juicy’s.

Winners will have the Juicy’s delivered to their class on Monday.

Week 7 Assembly information.

This Friday 9th of September Kakano 3 will be co-hosting the school assembly with Kakano 6. We will be performing a waiata and haka, while some children will have presenting parts. Unfortunately because of the number of children, not all will be speaking. Those who are, have already been practicing at home (hopefully). All parents/caregivers etc. are welcome to come and watch. The assembly begins at approximately 2:10pm.

 Week 7

Wishing all our wonderful Dad’s out there a Happy Fathers Day. We hope you have a great day and you’re kids are spoiling you. Thankyou to everyone who purchased a Father’s Day gift from our P.T.A. we really appreciate your support.

School Production - Little Red Rocking Hood

All kakano classes have begun to practice their dance for the production. Our dance is to the song - The Purple People Eater. So far the children are doing amazingly well learning their dance. Here are some of the important dates/information you need to know.

Weeks 7-8 - Classes continue to learn their dance routine at school during school time with Mrs Trask (our production director)

Week 8 - Bring your costumes to school in a named bag and give it to your teacher. Your costume is a plain black t-shirt and plain black pants or shorts. Your costumes will stay at school until after the production is completed. Costumes need to be at school this week as we have full dress rehearsals next week.

Week 9 - Full dress rehearsals at school during school time. This is our practice runs for the production next week. They will all happen during school time.

Week 10 - Production week. The production will take place on Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th of September in the school hall. On each of these days there will be two performances - a matinee (during school time) and an evening performance. The production will be about an hour long. Our classes have been split into two groups and your child is expected to be at both performances.

Group A - performs on Wednesday 28th - classes include K2, K5, K7, K8

Group B - performs on Thursday 29th - classes include K1, K3, K4, K6

We are not selling tickets to our school show through the office this year. Tickets can be bought online from Eventbrite from tomorrow. There is only a certain number of tickets for each show so once they are sold that is it. The price is $6.67, a funny price because we have to add GST and  Eventbrite’s commission on top of the $5.00 we charge.

Play Provocations

Our focus changes for the next two weeks to Digital technology. The children will be giving instructions to a partner to follow a series of steps combined with real life scenarios.

Recycling

Please keep the recycling materials coming into school.  It is amazing to see the different things that can be made from cardboard boxes, bottle tops and other recycling materials.
